Laughter is the Best Medicine of All

So with all this serious stuff, particularly the apocalyptical stuff, I bet your wondering how I stay sane and happy. Simples: comedy. I watch a wide range of stand up comedians and improv and the latter is what I will be describing here.

And the best show for imrov? Whose Line Is It Anyway of course. For those of you who have never seen the show I first have to ask where the hell have you been? You have been missing out big time! Secondly I will describe what the show is all about. Basically the show is based on suggestions from the audience and a few cue cards that the host reads from. Their are four improvers who perform all this, making up scenes and other such stuff straight from their heads. No rehearsal whatsoever. Which always brings an element of randomness which is perfectly funny.

For me the American version is much better than the British version, even though we Brits created it. Most people who have seen both versions would agree with this, I’m sure.

The clip below is from the American version of the show. The game being played is called African Chant. In this game Wayne Brady is doing an african chant to an audience member, whilst the three remaining improvers, Colin Mocherie, Ryan Stiles and Kathy Greenwood are doing back-up. Watch out for Colin’s, and Ryan’s, ridiculous dancing and Ryan’s accidental, but hilarious interruption of Wayne.

Told you they were good. Just so you know, this will be just one of quite a few instalments regarding this show, as well as the other shows that the improvers have done. I hope you enjoyed the video as much as I did. These guys have really made a difference to my life, because when I’m down I watch them and instantly cheer up. Laughter is, after all, the best medicine.
